Residents of Alfa beach laments deteriorating state of their community.... Seeks government Intervention
The Residents of Mopo Akinlade Town of Alpha Beach,Eti Osa Local Government, who among the communities which were affected by the Ocean storm that swallowed Health centre and series of properties has called on Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the federal government to come to their aide reclaiming their land for them with a great saving structure like Bar Beach.
The Baale of Mopo Akinlade town,Chief Shakiru Adekunle Akinlade made this known during the NEMA Official Handing Over of over 300 Palliative materials led by Hon. Ibrahim Obanikoro for the affected communities at Alpha Beach,held on Tuesday at the palace of Baale Okun Alfa ,that it has been 20 years now since the Residents have been languishing in the ocean storm and have been crying to the federal government to come to their rescue but all to no avail.
The Baale appealed therefore to the Federal and Lagos State government to consider their great fear, to sand fill the water like Bar Beach with solid Stones from Mopo Akinlade,Lafiaji etc.
He thanked Hon. Obanikoro for his sudden response and concern to send relief palliative materials to the community.
The Convener/Chairman Ocean Surge Communities, Eti-Osa Local Government, Lagos State, Nigeria. Hon. Prince Sheriff Adekunle Elegushi, described the area pathetically as of 1991,as a place of leisure and tourism which comprises of Coconut trees,Challet and health centres that people used to visit and suddenly became a place that couldn't be visited.
The Eti-Osa Federal House of Representative member, Hon. Ibrahim Obanikoro represented by his Legislative Aides, Mr. Seun Sonoiki expressed that Hon. Obanikoro has remained commited to ensure that the people's voice were heard ever since their letters have been sent to the federal constituency office to lodge complaints and series of assessments have been embarked upon by the government officials,parastatals and the ministries in order to ensure that the communities are given relief materials to give them assurance and sense of belongings to ameliorate the challenges of the communities at once and give them hope that the government is alive to listen.
He informed that the same NEMA has been able to reach out to 7 Communities in Takwabay with Palliative materials last week and strictly the ones for this week are meant for Mopo Community,Okun Afa and others.
Some of the items given to them are gallons of Palm Oil,Vegetable Oil,Bags of Rice,Beans,Gari,Bags of Cement,Roofing board and nails.
The Secretary of Eti Osa Community Ocean Surge, Aare Oladotun Hassan commended the federal Government for the relief palliative materials,and Hon. Ibrahim Obanikoro who responded to the letters forwarded to the office for urgent attention and ensuring that the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs is monitored to deliver the items through NEMA to the communities.
However, he requested that Governor Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State should immediately convey an ocean surge summit for Lagos State because Lagos is a centre of business attraction.
That if application like this is bedeviling his development, "we at Eti-Osa Community Ocean Surge would be given a date very soon in conjunctions with Lagos government to discuss physical area of synergy on development, empowerment,leisure and tourism,so that everything that has to be encompassed in this project would be captured as promised which will lead to a positive result.
