Anambra State Government Destroys Three Kidnappers’ Dens, Strengthens Security Measures

The Anambra State Government has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities by demolishing three kidnappers' hideouts in Nnewi North Local Government Area. The targeted locations—Ndiezenwankwo Uruagu, Umumejiaku Uruagu, and Obiofia Nnewichi—were destroyed on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, as part of the state’s renewed security strategy.

Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, revealed that the operation was led by Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Special Adviser on Community Security Chief Ken Emeakayi, House Committee Chairman on Security and Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, Nnewi North Local Government Chairman Mr. Echezona Anazodo, and Hon. Augustine Ike.

The demolition underscores Governor Charles Soludo’s commitment to eliminating criminal hideouts and making Anambra a safe haven for residents and visitors. This latest move aligns with the state’s security initiatives, including the newly launched Agụnaechemba security system and Operation Udo Ga-Achị (meaning "Operation Peace Shall Reign").

To combat crime effectively, Operation Udo Ga-Achị personnel have been equipped with cutting-edge technology, including AI-powered surveillance cameras, a command-and-control system integrating voice, video, and data, and advanced tracking devices. The initiative also includes special task forces targeting drug-related crimes, touting, cultism, and criminal idolatry. Patrols and stop-and-search operations have been intensified across the state to curb criminal activities.

Governor Soludo reaffirmed that security, law, and order remain central to his administration’s vision of a livable and prosperous Anambra. He acknowledged that crime has evolved, particularly in the Southeast, requiring a comprehensive and strategic response. His efforts have been widely praised by stakeholders, who view the government’s approach as both proactive and reassuring.
