First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Launches New Programs for Renewed Hope Initiative in 2025

Abuja – Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has unveiled a series of initiatives under the *Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI)* aimed at empowering women, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting vulnerable communities across the country.  

Speaking at the first quarter meeting with governors’ wives, the First Lady introduced the *“Flow with Confidence”* program, which will provide disposable sanitary pads to schoolgirls nationwide. Under this initiative, each state, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), will receive 10,000 cartons of sanitary pads to help young girls stay in school during their menstrual cycles.  

In a move to address environmental concerns, Senator Tinubu announced the establishment of climate change clubs in secondary schools and tertiary institutions. These clubs will educate students on climate change and waste management, with a long-term plan to set up recycling plants in each state to combat plastic pollution.  

“We don’t have to be intimidated by the quantity of waste we see around us,” she stated. “We must take action, and we are starting now.”  

The RHI will also support persons with disabilities by providing grants of *₦200,000* each to 250 beneficiaries per state to help recapitalize their businesses.  

Reflecting on the impact of the *Renewed Hope Initiative* over the past two years, the First Lady highlighted achievements such as women farmers' empowerment, scholarships for indigent students, provision of professional kits to midwives, disaster relief efforts, ICT training for women, the establishment of an *Alternative High School for Girls*, and support for the elderly and vulnerable groups.  

On the initiative’s 2025 priorities, she emphasized a broad focus on national development, stating, *“Everything must be prioritized. For instance, the ‘Flow with Confidence’ initiative requires local production of sanitary pads, which will create jobs and boost the economy.”*  

Encouraging young people to embrace hard work, she added, *“Faith without works is dead. Go and work, work for this country. Let this country grow.”*  

The meeting was attended by key figures, including *Hajia Nana Shettima*, Wife of the Vice President and National Vice Chairman of RHI, and *Mrs. Salamatu Gbajabiamila*, Wife of the Chief of Staff to the President and RHI Board Member.  

The *Renewed Hope Initiative* continues to play a significant role in social welfare, economic empowerment, and national development under the leadership of the First Lady.
