Ibeju-Lekki LG Sponsors 20 Youths for Vocational Training and City & Guilds Certification
Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has taken a significant step towards youth empowerment by sponsoring 20 young individuals to acquire vocational skills in industrial welding, plumbing, and electrical installation.
The beneficiaries commenced their six-month training today at the Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO), where they were accompanied by the Supervisor for Education and Library Services, Hon. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan. The students were formally handed over to the College Provost, Mr. Akorede Ojomu, marking the official start of their skill development journey.
This initiative is a collaboration between the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Council and the Ade-Otukomaya Foundation, with the council sponsoring 15 students while the foundation supports 5. The scholarship fully covers tuition, accommodation, and examination fees, ensuring that beneficiaries can focus entirely on their training.
At the end of the program, the trainees will sit for the internationally recognized **City and Guilds Certification**, which enhances their employability both locally and globally.
This initiative aligns with the council’s commitment to reducing unemployment and equipping Ibeju-Lekki youths with valuable skills for self-reliance and career growth.
