Easter: FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed Urges Caution on Roads, Deploys Nationwide Safety Measures

As Nigerians embark on travels and celebrations during the Easter holiday, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has called on all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations to ensure a safe and hitch-free celebration.

In a statement released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) and signed by the Corps Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC boss emphasized that the Easter period demands greater caution and responsibility from motorists due to increased vehicular and human movement across the country.

“Easter is a season of sober reflection. The lessons it teaches us should reflect in how we treat one another, especially on the road,” Corps Marshal Mohammed stated. “We urge every motorist to be patient, cautious, and law-abiding to avoid unnecessary accidents and traffic violations that could lead to unfortunate consequences.”

To ensure road safety nationwide during the festivities, the FRSC has deployed a robust operation involving a large number of personnel and logistics across major highways and identified accident-prone areas. These special operations are geared towards maintaining a free-flow of traffic, preventing obstructions, and promptly responding to emergencies.

“Our personnel have been strategically positioned to manage traffic and prevent congestion or delays. We appeal to the public to cooperate fully with our officers and other law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to maintain order on the roads during this period,” he added.

While extending his Easter greetings to Nigerians, the FRSC Corps Marshal commended the dedication and sacrifices of his officers, as well as other security personnel involved in the special Easter operations. He urged them to remain vigilant and prioritize their personal safety during their duties.

Mohammed also encouraged the public to report any road emergencies or incidents to the nearest FRSC office or patrol team. He reminded citizens of the Corps’ toll-free emergency number 122 and the National Traffic Radio (107.1 FM) as reliable channels for quick assistance.

He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful, joyful, and accident-free Easter celebration.
