Easter: Ibeju-Lekki Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Urges Love, Unity and Reflection
The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has extended heartfelt Easter greetings to Christians in the area and across Nigeria, calling for a deeper reflection on the essence of the season and a renewed commitment to love, peace, and collective progress.
In a message commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Hon. Olowa reminded believers of the significance of Christ’s sacrifice, which, according to Christian doctrine, atoned for the sins of mankind and reconciled humanity with God.
“As we celebrate Easter, it is important not to lose sight of the underlying message of the Cross,” he said. “The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ remain a call to selflessness, love, and redemption. These values must guide our relationship with one another and with our society.”
He noted that the 40-day Lenten season of fasting and prayer offered an opportunity for spiritual renewal and urged citizens to sustain its lessons by letting go of divisive tendencies and embracing peace and unity.
“Now is the time to purge ourselves of every weight that hinders our collective growth. Let the love we preach this season be evident in our actions toward one another,” the council boss added.
Hon. Olowa also appealed to residents of Ibeju-Lekki and Nigerians at large to promote peaceful coexistence and harmony in their communities.
He concluded by wishing all a joyful and meaningful Easter celebration.
