Renowned freight forwarding and logistics expert, Fwdr. Azeez Abayomi Mustapha, Rff, FITMT, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the prestigious European-American University, Republic of Panama.
The conferment ceremony, which held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, saw Mustapha honoured with a Doctor of Arts degree in Strategic Business Development and Logistics Management in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the logistics and supply chain industry in Nigeria and beyond.
A seasoned entrepreneur and Managing Principal of AZ De World Cargo Logistics Limited, Dr. Mustapha is widely respected for his pioneering strides in freight forwarding, which he ventured into in the year 2000. Following a decade of hands-on experience and professional training, he officially established AZ De World Cargo Logistics Limited on September 13, 2010. Today, the company boasts a solid presence in the logistics space, offering a wide range of services including ocean and air freight, DDU, DDP, EXW, customs clearance, door-to-door delivery, project cargo handling, break bulk operations, and international trade consultancy.
Born in Ajebo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Dr. Mustapha began his educational journey at Baptist Primary School, Kosofe, before moving on to Orisigun High School. He obtained his OND in Business Administration from Lagos State Polytechnic and later earned an HND in the same discipline from Yaba College of Technology. He also pursued further professional development at Redeemer's University, where he studied Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management, and earned a higher diploma certificate in Supply Chain from the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA).
With over two decades of experience, Dr. Mustapha oversees a vibrant team of 20 core staff and more than 25 auxiliary personnel managing field operations. His client base spans various industries including food, solar energy, automotive, IT, telecommunications, electronics, pharmaceuticals, offshore support, and government projects.
He is also the Co-CEO of Blue Ocean Cycle Limited and a prominent member of several global logistics networks, including the World Partner Alliance (WPA), Special Freight Network (SFN), China Logistics Club (CLC), and Freight Network Corporation (FNC). He holds fellowships with the Institute of Management Specialists (UK) and the Institute of Transport and Management Technology (FITMT), and is also a member of Ikeja Golf Club.
Dr. Mustapha’s guiding philosophy is rooted in continuous learning and adaptability. “Life is a journey of continuous learning where each experience, whether joyful or challenging, offers an opportunity for growth,” he said.
Away from the boardroom, he enjoys reading, playing golf, and listening to old school music. He cherishes time spent with his family, whom he describes as his greatest source of joy. Dr. Azeez Mustapha is happily married and blessed with children.
