Lagos Cleric Accuses Fr. Mbaka of Jealousy Over Evangelist Ebuka Obi’s Rising Popularity

— Urges Him to Embrace Spirit of Brotherhood and Love

A Lagos-based prophet, Elijah Bamidele Ilukholor of Christ House of Prayer and Deliverance Ministry, has openly criticized popular Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, accusing him of harboring jealousy towards the growing influence of Evangelist Ebuka Obi, founder of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach.

Prophet Ilukholor’s comments follow the circulation of a viral video showing Fr. Mbaka seemingly throwing jabs at Evangelist Ebuka during a recent programme at the Adoration Ministry, Enugu. In the video, Mbaka said, “Because I washed your feet doesn’t mean you should go and open a ministry,” a statement widely believed to be directed at Ebuka Obi.

Expressing his disappointment, Prophet Ilukholor recalled that Fr. Mbaka had previously acknowledged Evangelist Ebuka as a genuine servant of God. He noted that Mbaka not only gave his blessing to the young preacher but also anointed him and encouraged him to remain fearless and confident in his divine calling.

“It is baffling and unfortunate that Fr. Mbaka, who once endorsed Ebuka Obi, is now publicly criticizing him,” Ilukholor said. “This is not the spirit of true mentorship. The work of God should not be about rivalry or envy.”

He urged the Catholic priest to draw inspiration from biblical figures like Prophet Elijah, who did not feel threatened by his successor Elisha. Instead, Elijah supported Elisha’s journey and prayed for him to receive double the measure of his anointing.

“Elijah was not jealous of Elisha. He prayed for his successor and passed on the mantle with love. That is the model we should follow as men of God,” Prophet Ilukholor added.

He encouraged Fr. Mbaka to embrace Evangelist Ebuka with love and fatherly care rather than criticism, reminding all ministers of the gospel that their shared mission is to draw people to God, not compete for popularity.
