Lagos, Delta Transportation Commissioners Meet as Delta Embarks on Study Tour

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on Monday welcomed his Delta State counterpart, Hon. Onoriode Agofure, who led a delegation from the Delta State Directorate of Transport on a three-day study tour of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation and its affiliated agencies.

Receiving the delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters, Mr. Osiyemi noted that Lagos’ complex transportation landscape has necessitated the adoption of an integrated, multimodal transport system to enhance mobility and improve public safety.

He highlighted the State Government’s key transportation initiatives, including the implementation of the Blue and Red Line Rail projects, the ongoing development of the Green Line, and the deployment of additional high-capacity buses. He also mentioned the construction of eight quality bus corridors designed to improve road traffic flow and connectivity across the state.

Speaking further, Mr. Osiyemi briefed the visitors on the €410 million Omi-Eko project—a collaborative initiative between the Lagos State Government and the African Development Bank (AfDB)—which is focused on the development of inland waterways. The project includes the construction of new jetties and the introduction of electric boats, aimed at decongesting the roads and improving safety and efficiency on the waterways.

He commended the Delta State team for embarking on the study tour and expressed hope that their visit would yield valuable insights as they continue to develop their own transport infrastructure.

Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa; his Delta State counterpart, Engr. Omoniyi Victor; Director of Transport Policy and Coordination, Lagos State, Engr. Aderounmu Agbomeji; and other senior officials from both states.
