A frontline chairmanship aspirant in Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State Chapter, for its commitment to gender inclusion in the political process, particularly in the lead-up to the 2025 local government elections.
In a statement issued to Trek Africa Newspaper, Hon. Olabanji-Oba hailed the party’s recent announcement prioritizing women’s participation as a progressive and commendable move, describing it as a bold step towards true inclusivity and equity within the party and across the democratic landscape.
“This is a clear demonstration of the APC’s progressive leadership,” she said. “By deliberately creating opportunities for women to participate meaningfully in governance, the party is reinforcing its dedication to a more inclusive political system.”
Highlighting the crucial roles women and youth play in national development, Hon. Olabanji-Oba noted that the party’s stance would not only empower more women to step forward but also strengthen internal democracy and the APC’s grassroots structure.
“This decision is a powerful motivation for more women to become active participants in governance,” she stated. “It will energize our political base and help deepen democracy in real terms.”
She extended her appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership, and to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her consistent advocacy for women’s advancement in politics. She also lauded the leadership of the APC in Lagos State and across Nigeria for continuing to create space for women to thrive politically.
“This is not just a political gesture—it is a strategic recognition of the value women bring to governance and nation-building. We are deeply grateful,” she added.
Hon. Olabanji-Oba, a seasoned grassroots mobilizer and advocate for youth and women empowerment, is among the notable aspirants vying for the Ikorodu Local Government chairmanship seat in the upcoming 2025 polls.
