 OYOSUBEB Denies Common Entrance Exam Result Leak Allegation, Threatens Legal Action

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has denied allegations linking it to the purported leakage of results from the recently concluded Common Entrance Examination in the state, describing the claim as false, misleading and capable of damaging the reputation of the board and its leadership.

The denial followed an allegation reportedly made during a programme on a popular radio station in Ibadan.

In a statement signed electronically by the OYOSUBEB Media Team on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the board said it had no role whatsoever in the conduct, setting, production or handling of questions for the examination.

“For the avoidance of doubt, OYOSUBEB is not involved at any stage in the conduct, setting, production or handling of questions for the Common Entrance Examination,” the board stated.

It therefore described any attempt to associate the Executive Chairman, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, or any of its officials with the alleged leakage as “completely unfounded.”

The board maintained that the administration of Adeniran had consistently upheld transparency, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of its responsibilities.

According to OYOSUBEB, it would not allow what it described as unsubstantiated allegations or speculative reports to tarnish the integrity of the board or its leadership.

The board also clarified that complaints or inquiries concerning the conduct, administration or outcome of the Common Entrance Examination should be directed to the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

It stressed that the ministry is the appropriate authority responsible for the examination, adding that OYOSUBEB has no involvement in its conduct or administration.

While acknowledging the role of the media in holding public institutions accountable, OYOSUBEB urged broadcasters and media organisations to ensure that allegations are properly verified before being aired or published.

The board specifically called on the management and presenters of the radio station involved, as well as other media platforms, to exercise caution and adhere to the principles of accuracy, fairness and responsible journalism.

OYOSUBEB further warned that defamatory statements, false allegations or what it described as a continued smear campaign against Adeniran would attract legal action.

“The Board will not hesitate to pursue all lawful remedies available to protect the integrity and reputation of its leadership,” it said.

The board reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening basic education in Oyo State, saying it would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to promote quality, transparency and accountability in the sector.

It also urged members of the public to disregard the allegation and rely on verified information from the appropriate authorities concerning the Common Entrance Examination.
