RHI Food Outreach Reaches 29th State, Extends Support to Vulnerable Nigerians in Bauchi

The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) has extended its Food Outreach Programme to Bauchi State, making it the 29th state to benefit from the intervention aimed at supporting persons with disabilities and other vulnerable Nigerians.

The food items were formally presented to the wife of the Bauchi State Governor and State Coordinator of RHI, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, for onward distribution to vulnerable groups and persons with disabilities across the state.

The First Lady of Nigeria and National Chairman of RHI, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, reaffirmed the initiative’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and cushioning the effects of hardship among vulnerable citizens.

Senator Tinubu, who was represented at the event by the wife of the Vice-President and National Vice Chairman of RHI, Hajiya Nana Shettima, disclosed that the food outreach had been sustained through the monthly contributions of two donors, who provide two truckloads of food items to the initiative.

She identified the donors as the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) and an anonymous donor, noting that the food consignment delivered to Bauchi was provided by the anonymous donor.

The First Lady expressed appreciation to the two donors for their generosity and continued commitment to supporting vulnerable Nigerians and tackling food insecurity.

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, described the intervention as impactful and a reflection of the compassionate leadership of the First Lady.

Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the governor commended Senator Tinubu for her sustained efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.

He said the state government would continue to support citizens through agricultural subsidies, economic empowerment programmes and educational initiatives designed to improve livelihoods.

According to him, while immediate relief measures remain necessary, the government’s long-term objective is to promote economic self-reliance and improve the living conditions of residents.

The wife of the governor, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, also announced cash assistance for beneficiaries in addition to the food items.

She explained that the cash support would help facilitate the transportation of the food items to local communities and vulnerable groups across the state.

With Bauchi’s inclusion, the RHI Food Outreach Programme has now reached 28 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Katsina and Akwa Ibom states are expected to benefit from the intervention next as the programme continues its nationwide expansion.

The Food Outreach Programme is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s broader social investment interventions designed to complement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by providing practical assistance to Nigerians facing difficult circumstances.

The programme places particular emphasis on persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, with the aim of alleviating hardship, promoting social inclusion and strengthening community support systems.
