First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Commissions Nigerian Red Cross National Headquarters, Praises Humanitarian Service
ABUJA, Nigeria — First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the first National Headquarters of the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Abuja, describing the facility as a significant milestone that will strengthen the organization's capacity to deliver humanitarian services across the country.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Friday, Senator Tinubu commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its longstanding commitment to serving humanity without discrimination, noting that the organization has consistently provided hope and relief to vulnerable communities.
According to the First Lady, the new headquarters will enhance the Society's operational efficiency, improve coordination of humanitarian activities, and deepen its impact nationwide.
She highlighted the critical role played by the Red Cross in disaster response, first aid services, support for victims of conflict, health promotion, and the delivery of humanitarian assistance to communities in need.
"The Society has remained steadfast in its mission of serving humanity without discrimination. I am confident that this new office building will further strengthen its capacity to coordinate humanitarian activities, enhance operational effectiveness, and deepen its impact across Nigeria," she said.
Senator Tinubu, who was earlier decorated as the Grand Matron of the Society, praised the leadership, staff, partners, and volunteers of the Nigerian Red Cross Society for their dedication and sacrifices in serving vulnerable populations.
"Your selfless service continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals and families," she added.
As part of the inauguration activities, the First Lady toured the facility, including its Incident Room, where she was briefed on the operations of the Society's fully digitized emergency response and coordination systems.
In separate remarks, President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, and Head of Country Cluster for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Doris El-Doueihy, commended the Federal Government's efforts in addressing issues that contribute to humanitarian crises.
They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting humanitarian interventions and working with stakeholders to improve the lives of victims of disasters and other emergencies across Nigeria.
The commissioning of the headquarters marks a new chapter for the Nigerian Red Cross Society as it seeks to expand its reach and strengthen humanitarian response efforts nationwide.
