Fidelity Bank Donates Food to Over 1,000 IDPs in Plateau Through Food Bank Initiative

 Fidelity Bank Plc has provided food relief to more than 1,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State under its Fidelity Food Bank Initiative, reinforcing its commitment to tackling hunger and supporting vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

Fidelity Bank Plc has extended humanitarian support to over 1,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State through its Fidelity Food Bank Initiative.

The intervention, carried out in partnership with the Plateau State Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Office and the ABBASID Charity Foundation, saw the distribution of essential food items, including rice, noodles and tomatoes, to displaced families living in transit camps.

Speaking during the exercise, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the initiative reflects the bank's commitment to addressing hunger and supporting vulnerable groups across the country.

According to him, the Fidelity Food Bank Initiative was established to provide food assistance to underserved communities and alleviate the burden of food insecurity.

"We are delighted to be in Mangu to support families affected by displacement. We hope this intervention will help nourish households and reduce the burden of hunger they currently face," Nwagboh said.

He noted that the programme forms part of the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and has become a major platform for supporting national efforts to combat hunger and improve the welfare of disadvantaged communities.

Project Coordinator of the Plateau State Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mrs. Nanbam Danjuma-Lot, described the intervention as timely, noting that many families displaced by attacks in recent years continue to face severe hardship.

She commended Fidelity Bank and its partners for bringing relief to the affected communities, saying the collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to helping displaced persons recover and rebuild their lives.

Also speaking, the Founder of the ABBASID Charity Foundation, Mrs. Hauwa Abbas, stressed the importance of partnerships in addressing food insecurity across the country.

She disclosed that through its collaboration with Fidelity Bank, the foundation has delivered food assistance to between 32 and 40 vulnerable communities nationwide, providing relief to families affected by hunger and economic challenges.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, the Village Head of Changal Community, Mr. Titus Abednago, expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank, the Plateau State Government and other partners for the intervention.

He described the food support as a source of hope for displaced families and appealed for sustained efforts to restore peace, enabling affected residents to return to their communities and resume farming activities.
