 Police Rescue Abducted Woman, Two-Year-Old Son from Kidnappers' Forest Hideout in Kwara

 The Nigeria Police Force has rescued a 43-year-old woman, Adijat Kuburat, and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, from a kidnappers' forest hideout in Bode Sadu, Kwara State, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation by the Force Intelligence Department's Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes with the successful rescue of an abducted woman and her two-year-old son from a forest hideout in Kwara State.

The rescue operation was carried out on Saturday, July 4, 2026, by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department's Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in collaboration with local security support groups. Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives stormed a forest in Bode Sadu, Kwara State, where the victims were believed to be held captive.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the kidnappers opened fire on the operatives upon sighting them in an attempt to resist the operation. However, the security team responded swiftly with superior tactical firepower, forcing the criminals to flee deeper into the forest.

Following a thorough search of the area, the operatives successfully rescued the victims, identified as 43-year-old Adijat Kuburat and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, from the kidnappers' hideout.

The rescued mother and child have been taken to a medical facility, where they are receiving treatment and necessary care. Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction.

Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Inspector-General of Police, , praised their courage, professionalism, and dedication to duty.

The IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes through sustained intelligence-driven and collaborative operations, assuring Nigerians that security agencies will continue to pursue criminal elements until they are brought to justice.
