PSC Disowns Fake Police Recruitment Medical Screening Notice, Warns Candidates Against Fraud
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has disowned a fake press release circulating on social media announcing a medical screening exercise for Nigeria Police Force recruitment candidates, warning applicants and the public to disregard the fraudulent publication and rely only on official communication.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has alerted the public to a fake press release being circulated on social media regarding the ongoing Nigeria Police Force recruitment exercise.
In a disclaimer issued on Friday by the Commission's Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu, the PSC described the publication as fraudulent and clarified that it did not originate from the Commission.
According to the PSC, the fake notice falsely claimed that a medical screening exercise would hold from July 16 to July 22, 2026, and that a portal would be activated on July 14, 2026, for candidates to print medical screening slips.
The Commission also noted that the fraudulent statement made misleading references to a purported "State Police Act 2026" and the posting of successful recruits to their states of origin, stressing that such claims are entirely false and should be disregarded.
The PSC explained that it held a stakeholders' meeting on July 9, 2026, involving representatives of the Commission, the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, and the Ministry of Police Affairs to deliberate on the recruitment process.
It assured applicants that an official statement would be released in due course to communicate the outcome of the meeting and provide details on the next phase of the recruitment exercise.
The Commission urged all candidates and members of the public to rely solely on information published through its official communication channels, including its website, recruitment portal, official email address, and verified social media platforms.
Reiterating that the police recruitment process is completely free, the PSC warned applicants against paying money to anyone or falling victim to misinformation.
The Commission further cautioned that individuals found circulating fake recruitment notices or engaging in fraudulent activities would face legal consequences.
