Wema Bank Wins Euromoney's Nigeria's Best Digital Bank for Consumers 2026 Award
Wema Bank has been named Nigeria's Best Digital Bank for Consumers 2026 by Euromoney, earning international recognition for its digital innovation, customer-focused banking services and commitment to expanding financial inclusion through technology.
Wema Bank, Nigeria's oldest indigenous bank and the promoter of Africa's first fully digital bank, ALAT, has won the Nigeria's Best Digital Bank for Consumers 2026 award at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence.
The recognition, conferred by Euromoney, a leading global financial services publication, highlights the bank's achievements in digital transformation, customer experience and financial inclusion.
According to Euromoney, Wema Bank distinguished itself through its continued investment in digital banking innovation, particularly the growth of ALAT, which has evolved into a comprehensive digital banking platform offering customers faster, simpler and more accessible financial services.
Speaking on the award, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, Moruf Oseni, described the recognition as validation of the bank's long-term investment in technology and customer-centred innovation.
"This award is a strong validation of the deliberate investments we have made over the years to build a truly digital bank that puts customers at the centre of everything we do. Innovation for us has never been about technology for its own sake. It has always been about creating solutions that make banking easier, faster, safer and more rewarding for every customer," Oseni said.
He added that Wema Bank remains committed to anticipating customers' evolving needs and delivering innovative banking solutions that create lasting value.
A major driver of the bank's digital growth has been the enhanced version of ALAT, which now offers features such as voice banking, tap-to-pay functionality, personalised financial services and integrated investment opportunities through strategic partnerships.
The bank has also strengthened its digital ecosystem with faster customer onboarding, artificial intelligence-powered fraud monitoring, intelligent customer personalisation and an expanding agency banking network aimed at improving access to financial services across Nigeria.
Euromoney further acknowledged Wema Bank's use of data-driven personalisation to provide customers with tailored recommendations on savings, investments and credit products based on their financial behaviour and needs.
With more than 80 years in operation, Wema Bank has continued to position itself as a technology-driven financial institution, leveraging innovation to deliver secure, seamless and inclusive banking services to individuals, businesses and communities.
The latest Euromoney recognition underscores the bank's commitment to advancing digital banking in Nigeria through continuous innovation, operational excellence and customer-focused solutions.
