Apapa Customs Generates Record ₦28.1bn in 24 Hours

LAGOS — The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has recorded its highest-ever single-day revenue collection of ₦28.102 billion, generated within 24 hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

The new record surpassed the Command’s previous daily revenue collection of ₦20.1 billion, achieved in September 2025, shortly after the assumption of office of the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba.

The latest feat comes barely weeks after the Apapa Command recorded an unprecedented ₦323 billion in monthly revenue in July 2026, underscoring the impact of ongoing reforms, improved compliance, intelligence-driven interventions, trade facilitation and increased adoption of digital Customs processes.

Oshoba said the milestone was not merely about setting revenue records but about strengthening the capacity of government to finance development programmes that directly affect Nigerians.

According to him, revenue generated by the Customs Service contributes to government resources used to fund critical sectors, including infrastructure, security, education and healthcare.

He dedicated the achievement to the Federal Government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the Service for their support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at improving the efficiency, transparency and business-friendliness of Customs operations.

The CAC also praised compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders for their cooperation, as well as Nigerians who have provided actionable intelligence to the Service.

Oshoba stressed that “every compliant transaction contributes to national development,” urging stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade and compliance with Customs regulations.

He noted that a stronger revenue base would provide government with greater capacity to meet the needs of citizens while creating a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

The Customs Area Controller further charged officers and men of the Command not to become complacent following the latest achievement, describing the record as a responsibility to improve further.

He directed personnel to maintain professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders while ensuring that revenue collection is balanced with effective trade facilitation.

Oshoba also urged officers to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and avoid unnecessary actions that could hinder lawful businesses.

The Apapa Area Command said it would sustain its focus on revenue generation, trade facilitation, professionalism and stakeholder collaboration, with the understanding that legitimate revenue strengthens government’s capacity to deliver on its development priorities.

The Command’s latest performance further reinforces Apapa’s strategic role as a major revenue-generating hub for the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian economy.
