 Benson Secures New School, ICT Centre for Igbogbo/Baiyeku

LAGOS — Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) is set to benefit from a new school building and a modern Information and Communications Technology (ICT) centre following approvals facilitated by the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson.

The approvals were announced during Benson’s working visit to the LCDA on Friday, August 28, 2026, with both projects expected to be completed before the end of December.

According to a statement signed by Oluwaseun Ajayi, Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, the interventions are aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps in the education sector while expanding access to digital skills and technology training.

The new school building is expected to improve the learning environment for students affected by inadequate infrastructure, while the ICT centre will provide youths and other residents with opportunities to acquire digital literacy, technology and reskilling capabilities.

During the visit, Benson inspected some of the infrastructure needs identified as priorities by the administration of the Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun.

The projects, according to the statement, are part of Benson’s efforts to attract development interventions to communities across Ikorodu Federal Constituency and deliver what it described as tangible dividends of democracy under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.

Aroyewun commended Benson for his continued support for Igbogbo/Baiyeku and the development projects facilitated through his office.

The chairman said the latest approvals demonstrated the importance of collaboration between elected representatives and local government authorities in attracting projects that respond to the needs of residents.

The two leaders also committed to ensuring that the projects are completed before the end of 2026, with oversight mechanisms expected to be deployed to promote quality delivery and ensure the facilities serve their intended purposes.

The ICT centre is projected to provide digital skills training to more than 200 youths and community members annually, while the school project is expected to improve learning conditions for more than 500 students currently affected by infrastructure deficits.

The projects are also expected to expand access to modern learning tools, create opportunities for technology-driven employment and enterprise, and support the development of digital skills among residents.

The statement said the interventions would complement other development initiatives in Igbogbo/Baiyeku and strengthen collaboration between the LCDA administration and the federal lawmaker.

It added that the partnership between Benson and the Aroyewun administration was aimed at promoting sustainable development and improving access to opportunities for residents of the LCDA.
