 Glo Staff Celebrate 23rd Anniversary with Fitness, Sports Fiesta at Fitfest 2026

Globacom employees have celebrated the telecommunications company’s 23rd anniversary with a colourful sporting event designed to promote teamwork, healthy living and workplace camaraderie.

The event, tagged “Glo Fitfest 2026,” was held on Saturday at The Stable, Surulere, Lagos, bringing together staff from different departments for a day of sporting activities, entertainment and team bonding.

Employees participated in a variety of games, including table tennis, Big Ludo, Big Snooker, Beer Pong, sack race, Big Ayo and a football competition featuring teams drawn from various departments across the organisation.

The departments were grouped into clusters for the competitions, creating an atmosphere of friendly rivalry while encouraging teamwork and interaction among colleagues.

Dressed in colourful T-shirts specially produced for the occasion, Glo staff brought energy and enthusiasm to the games, turning the anniversary celebration into a lively sporting festival.

The football competition emerged as one of the major highlights of the event, attracting intense competition as departments battled for the championship trophy and cash prize.

Some teams reportedly strengthened their squads with talented colleagues from outside Lagos, adding further competitiveness to the matches.

The Glo Rockets, comprising staff from the Sales Force and Value-Added Services Department, eventually emerged as champions after defeating Strikers FC, made up of employees from the Rollout, Information Systems, Gloworld Development and E-Pin departments.

The victorious team received a giant trophy and a N1 million cash prize, while the runners-up received N750,000.

Players from both teams were also presented with medals, while winners in the other sporting categories received medals and cash prizes in recognition of their performances.

Beyond the sporting contests, Glo Fitfest 2026 featured music, dancing, laughter and other recreational activities, providing employees with an opportunity to relax, interact and celebrate their collective contributions to the company's growth.

The event also underscored the importance of employee engagement and wellness, while strengthening relationships among staff across different departments.

As Globacom marks 23 years of operations, the Fitfest celebration provided an avenue for employees to reflect on the company's journey, celebrate its achievements and build renewed team spirit as they look ahead to another year.
