Interswitch Wins Gender Inclusion Award, Dr Cherry Eromosele Named Among Top 50 Influential Women at WIMCA 2026

LAGOS — Interswitch, a leading African integrated payments and digital commerce company, has received recognition for its commitment to gender inclusion and leadership at the 2026 Women in Marketing & Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA) in Lagos.

The company was named Most Outstanding Fintech Company in Gender Inclusion, while its Executive Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Dr Cherry Eromosele, was recognised among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing & Communications at the 12th edition of the annual event.

WIMCA 2026 was held on Saturday, August 29, at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos, bringing together professionals, executives, brands and organisations from the marketing, communications and wider business sectors.

Themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” the conference focused on resilience, mentorship, continuous learning and authentic leadership, with activities including industry conversations, an exhibition, gala dinner and awards ceremony.

Interswitch sponsored the event as part of its broader commitment to supporting platforms that promote knowledge exchange, recognise professional excellence and provide visibility for individuals and organisations making meaningful contributions to their industries and communities.

Commenting on the recognitions, Eromosele said the company's support for WIMCA reflects its belief in the importance of creating platforms that celebrate excellence, encourage learning and spotlight professionals driving positive change.

She said the recognitions were significant because they aligned with two principles central to Interswitch's operations — people and impact.

“Inclusion is not simply about creating opportunities for different voices to be present; it is about creating an environment where people can contribute, grow and lead,” Eromosele said.

She added that marketing and communications had evolved beyond simply telling organisational stories to influencing conversations, building trust and creating meaningful relationships with customers and communities.

According to her, the recognition also reinforces the importance of investing in people and creating opportunities for diverse talent to thrive.

The event also featured Verve, Interswitch's consumer payments brand, which maintained a strong presence throughout the programme.

Verve used the platform to engage attendees and showcase its proposition, providing consumers and industry stakeholders with an opportunity to interact directly with the brand.

The company's participation, according to Interswitch, reflects Verve's focus on building stronger consumer relationships and creating experiences that go beyond its core role in facilitating payments.

The fintech company said its continued involvement in initiatives such as WIMCA forms part of its broader efforts to promote inclusion, nurture talent, celebrate excellence and support meaningful engagement across Africa's business and professional ecosystem.
