 JMG, Trane Promote Energy-Efficient Cooling Solutions as Nigeria’s Construction Sector Expands

JMG Limited and Trane Technologies are promoting smarter and more energy-efficient air-conditioning and HVAC solutions as Nigeria’s expanding construction and industrial sectors drive growing demand for cooling and climate-control systems.

The companies made the case for efficient cooling solutions at The Big 5 Construct Nigeria 2026 in Lagos, where JMG, through its Clima division and in partnership with Trane Technologies, showcased solutions designed to meet the cooling requirements of residential, commercial and industrial developments.

JMG Limited is the official distributor of Trane air-conditioning solutions in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Vineeth Vijayan, Sales Leader, Nigeria and Ghana, Trane Air Conditioning, said the rapid development of buildings and infrastructure across the country was creating increased demand for specialised cooling and climate-control systems.

“Buildings are going up, left, right and centre, and these buildings require cooling, specialised kinds of cooling and commercial cooling,” Vijayan said.

He explained that Trane offers cooling solutions designed to meet different requirements across Nigeria’s growing built environment.

Also speaking, Idoko Jonahs Adejoh, Business Development Manager, HVAC, JMG Limited, said the focus should extend beyond the installation of air-conditioning systems to the cost and efficiency of operating them over their lifespan.

According to Adejoh, JMG Clima’s partnership with Trane Technologies is aimed at providing HVAC systems that combine effective cooling with improved energy efficiency.

“JMG Clima has partnered with Trane Technologies to provide heating, ventilation and cooling systems to Nigeria, not just cooling systems, but cooling systems that are energy efficient,” he said.

He noted that energy-efficient systems could require a higher upfront investment but could deliver savings through reduced energy consumption over time.

“The initial investment into this might be a bit high, but in the long run, it cuts down on your energy consumption, giving you good value for your investment,” Adejoh said.

The emphasis on energy efficiency comes amid growing concerns over the cost of powering and maintaining commercial, industrial and residential facilities in Nigeria.

Vijayan said customers also benefit from JMG’s local support structure, which extends beyond the sale of equipment to after-sales services.

“Customers are benefiting not really only on the sales aspect, but also on the after-sales aspect,” he said.

The companies said the evolving Nigerian cooling market was increasingly focused on solutions that offer reliability, energy efficiency and value throughout the operational life of equipment.

The development reflects a broader shift in the construction industry, where building performance is increasingly being considered alongside structural design, with energy consumption, operating costs and long-term efficiency becoming important considerations for developers and facility owners.
