 Oluremi Tinubu Flags Off National Community Food Bank Programme in Anambra, Completes Zonal Rollout

....First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has flagged off the National Community Food Bank Programme in Anambra State, completing the nationwide rollout of the initiative across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The programme, designed to tackle child malnutrition and improve nutrition outcomes among vulnerable Nigerians, was flagged off in Anambra as part of the First Lady’s one-day official visit to the state.

Speaking at the event, Senator Oluremi Tinubu called for political differences to be set aside in addressing the pressing needs of Nigerians, stressing that improving the welfare of citizens should remain a collective responsibility.

Addressing residents who gathered at the Alex Ekwueme Square to welcome her, the First Lady described the completion of the zonal rollout of the National Community Food Bank Programme as a significant milestone for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

She expressed optimism about the future of Nigerian children, saying the South-East rollout should stimulate renewed interest and commitment to child nutrition at all levels of government.

Senator Tinubu also commended Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, and his wife for their various policies and programmes, describing them as evidence of what she termed the governor’s progressive ideological outlook.

During her visit, the First Lady inaugurated a new RHI/Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

Interacting with students at one of the institution’s lecture theatres, Senator Tinubu urged young Nigerians to explore constructive ways of deploying technology, particularly artificial intelligence, to address societal challenges.

She also encouraged the students to participate actively in the Environment Society and develop practical solutions to environmental challenges confronting the country.

According to her, expanding the frontiers of digital learning remains a priority of the Renewed Hope Initiative, with the newly inaugurated RHI/TETFund ICT Experience Centre expected to provide students with greater opportunities to acquire digital skills.

The First Lady also flagged off the distribution of empowerment items provided by the Anambra State Government to 5,000 beneficiaries.

As part of the intervention, she announced a financial grant of ₦100,000 for each beneficiary, aimed at supporting their economic empowerment and livelihoods.

Governor Charles Soludo, in his remarks, described the partnership between the Federal Government and the Anambra State Government as progressive, saying it was helping to establish a framework designed to ensure that no one is left behind.

As a mark of appreciation for Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s contributions to national development and her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the First Lady was conferred with the traditional title of Ugoeze of Anambra.

The title was bestowed on her by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweka.

The Anambra visit marked another phase of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s efforts to strengthen interventions in nutrition, youth empowerment, digital learning and inclusive development across the country.
