ICPC invites Sanwo-olu's aide for illegal checkpoint, extortion


A newly elected flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to represent Lagos Island at the state house of assembly has been accused for operating an illegal check point and extortion in Apapa.

The accused who is also a Senior Special Assistant to governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Central Business District (CBD) Hon. Sola Giwa was invited by the ICPC (Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission) over illegal extortion after some of his boys were arrested by the Port Standing Task team (PSTT) .

Giwa's P.A and group were arrested  by the port standing task team( PSTT) over extortion and illegal check point at Apapa. 
 
They were deposited at the area B division police station, on their arrival the next day,  Giwa allegedly instigated the area commander against moving them from area B which led the area commander to invite the PSTT official to his office for negotiation.

Afterwards, the area commander brought in about 15 policemen who assaulted  DSS & ICPC officials and held them hostage for 4 hours.   

They reportedly tore the shirt of one of the DSS officials not  until after the intervention of the C.P before they were released and could move the suspects to ICPC .  

Meanwhile, the accused got an invitation to report to  ICPC office by Tuesday 14th June, 2022, which he did not honour and his P.A. who was released on bail could not fulfill the bail conditions.
