A group of journalist visited Ikotun/ Igando area during the last environmental sanitation to sensitize the marketers on the need to keep their environment clean from ravaging pandemic of Monkey pox and Cholera.
Three markets were visited, Igando multi purpose market, Irepodun market, Ikotun and Oja Oba market all within the local government axis. There was high level of compliance with the environmental workers and the rate of cleaniness was overwhelming.
Speaking to one of the market heads at Igando multipurpose market, Alhaja Ishola said she and other executives made sure they sensitize the traders on the need to keep the market environment clean. She said they carry out environmental sanitation on daily basis, they don't wait till Thursday to clean their environment and the traders has been supportive in that regard, she said "you can't see the marketers carrying out any other activities on Thursday apart from cleaning their stores and environment". She commended the chairman for his support to their market by giving them the dividend of democracy at Igando multipurpose market.
At Ikotun market, Chief S.A Ambali Abolaji, market head of Irepodun market urges the traders to take cleaniness serious and be more vigilant in their environment. He commended the efforts of the local government chairman in answering to their plea and granting their request.
Speaking to the journalists, who visited his office, the executive chairman of Igando/Ikotun LCDA, Com. Lasisi Akinsanya said they've been advocating and sensitizing the marketers on cleaningness and having a perfect and clean environment. He said they hold regular meetings with the marketers, the CDC, the CDA,sensitizing them to ensure their environment is clean. He notes he was able to achieve the development in the local government through the cooperation and support of the CDA and CDC chairmen in the local government.
There has been massive infrastructural development at Igando/ Ikotun LCDA since the inception of the administration of Senior Com. Lasisi Akinsanya the LCDA chairman of Igando/Ikotun local council development area. Construction of canals and drainages within Ikotun market, road projects, school infrastructure and health care development facility. All these were the achievements of the chairman within his one year in office.
