All set for annual Ikosi- Isheri cultural festival

...... featuring Music, pageantry, awards, carnival floats and cultural event.

All is set for the annual cultural festival of Ikosi Isheri, Ketu, Magodo cultural festival. The festival which is a two day event will begin on the 30th of September to end on the 1st of October.

The council Chairperson  Princess Semiat Abolanle Bada made the plans and programs of the event known at a press conference held at Senator Bayo Osinowo's hall last Monday. She said they are fully prepared and ready for this year's world tourism day, as her local government will be hosting different cultural groups, musicians,. pageantry, business show, dance, awards and cultural float.
The council boss stressed the need for preservation of age long cultural values and affinities of the people, as it tends to say much about the essence of their being.

Princess Bada said that; “Ikosi Isheri LCDA comprises of different ethnic nationalities, in this community we have Hausa, Igbo and the Yoruba. Insecurity bedevilling the land boils down to the fact that there are tribal intolerance, at the last edition we gather them together sensitized them against clashes amongst different groups and now there is no disparity among the religions, that informs our theme: Our culture not our religion.

“This is to tell you that our ethnic diversity and religion does not divide us, we are coming together in one language and to speak as Ikosi Isherians and to go back and remember our tradition our unique colour- Black is beauty.
“That we have a particular way of life they call culture in Ikosi Isheri and these are things we have interviewed the custodians of our culture like the Obas and Chiefs about and they said they have a lot of things they worship, although  the white people who came visiting then went away with lots of things our fathers are using as their power.

“These are the things that made us come back as Chairman at the grassroots to make different enquiries on how we can forge a united front on those valuable things we have for which many can partner with us.

That informs why we invited a lot of people whom even while they are here to dine and wine with us, we have a lot of lands here, we will invite them to invest in Ikosi Isheri.
“Ikosi Isheri is a proudly peaceful area, during the EndSars protest Ikosi Isheri remain peaceful because we work as a friend and family here and those are the things that encouraged me to say this year’s cultural festival will be a laudable one.

Also at the media parley was the All Progressive Congress candidate contesting for  Kosofe Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara, she said she has reach out to other aspirants in her constituency.

She made this remarks while speaking to our reporters shortly after the “Ikosi Isheri Ketu Magodo annual Cultural Festival” press conference held at Sen. Adebayo Osinowo hall, Ikosi Ketu, on Monday.

“We have done our reconciliation to the fullest. I have reached out to everybody I contested the primary election with. And we are all on board to go forward for this election come 2023 by the grace of God.”

“I don’t have a camp but it’s a party thing and the party, All Progressives Congress, is fully prepared.”

She noted that all support groups under Swagga will work together to ensure that Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed emerges victoriously as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

“By the grace of God, I will win this election. For the past several years, I have always been the nominee for the House of Representatives. I have worked in this local government several times to win an election. You can see that my own election is like a general election that has already permeated the whole of this local government".

“And the residents are waiting for that day to come so that they can cast their votes for Kafilat Ogbara in the election.”

Speaking on the first bill she will sponsor after the election, she said, “I am going to put up a manifesto after September 28.

However, she said she is going all out to the National Assembly for young people, the aged, and old people, among others, as her main focus in Kosofe Federal Constituency.
