Senator Anthony Adefuye calls for Godwin Emefiele's resignation

In view of the problems been faced by the masses through the new currency policy implemented by the central bank of Nigeria, a former Senator of the 3rd republic and a member of Lagos State Governor advisory council Senator Anthony Adefuye has called on the governor of central bank of Nigeria to resign or step aside till this issues of currency redesign is resolved.

In a press conference held at his residence on Thursday, Senator Anthony Adefuye said  in his speech " If we are to stop suffering of Nigerians, it is not too big a sacrifice for the governor of central bank of Nigeria to step aside. The solution to Nigerian economic problems is beyond him." If he fails to step aside voluntarily, then he should be suspended from the office. We should never appoint a banker again as the governor of central bank."

Senator Anthony Adefuye notes that, when there were honest and trustworthy Nigerians with Integrity as Governor of central bank, there was never this type of economic disaster. It was when the government started appointing bankers and the so called economic gurus that the problem started and the naira tumbling in the international market.

He said" a renowned Nobel Laurel once released a statement on the political and economic blunders perpetrated by the previous government of PDP under the watch of Godwin Emefiele as Governor of central bank." If all these happened at that time, you can imagine what the situation would now be under the same Godwin Emefiele with this recent monetary policy blunder. Hence Godwin Emefiele must go!" 

He also notes that the Governor of central bank has refused flagrantly to obey the order of the supreme Court. "People are suffering, they don't have access to their money in the banks. The banks did not open for transactions and they refused to take old naira notes which was dispensed to the public, the new currency notes were not made available to the public either, we are fast approaching economic disaster and lack of trust in our banking system."

" The president made a statement this morning that, the 200 naira old notes should continue to be legal tender. Whereas, the 200 naira old notes is not made available."

"We should continue to obey the court order which states that the new and old currency notes of 200, 500,1000 naira should continue to be legal tender side by side." Failure to do so, will lead to Chaos, Anarchy, public disobedience and violence."

Enough is enough, Godwin Emefiele must go, he asserted.
