Truckers meet with Lagos APC Leaders.....
A group of truckers with their leaders last Saturday met with the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Lagos State to express their dissatisfaction as regards the problems they are encountering at Apapa and environs.
It was an interactive session between members of the trucking community and Lagos State Government toward addressing the myriads of problems that are taking serious economic toll on trucking business in Lagos state.
The underlisted problems were mentioned:
1. Area boys extorting truckers, damaging trucks for drivers refusal to give them money, causing truck accidents beating and abducting truck drivers, collecting money before a broke down truck is tow away or repair on the road side, etc.
2. Indiscriminate towing of trucks and imposing of outrageous towing charges by LASTMA.
3. Outrageous truck penalty charges by LASTMA
It is against it's background that truckers will meet with Lagos State party officials to present these problems for urgent solution if Lagos State Government wants the trucking community to support re-election bid of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for second term.
The party chairman Hon. Conelius Ojelabi who addressed the truckers promised to forward their requests to Governor Sanwo-Olu, but truckers insisted they needed to see the Governor one on one because all previous promises made by government officials to pass truckers message to him has not yield any results.
In view of this, the State Party chairman told the truckers to come back on Tuesday for possible direct engagement with the governor in order to address the problems of the truckers.
