Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative LTD/GTE marks second year anniversary/award ceremony

Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative is a community initiative which evolved as a child of necessity, inspired by the rising wave of criminalities,and general state of insecurity pervasive in the division in recent times.

Otunba Ayodele Elesho who welcome everyone to the second anniversary on behalf of the committee and members of IDPIL said the " historic establishment of this great body by all the Royal Father's of Ikorodu Division,led by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba(Engr) Kabir Adewale Shotobi."

Otunba Elesho notes that Ikorodu Division has enjoyed relative peace since the establishment of the local security group. He appreciates the head of BOT High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya (SAN) the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom,  who has been the major sponsor of the group and the management led by Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru for providing dynamic leadership for the group

 

The BOT chairman, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya (SAN) said they were given a rare opportunity to serve Ikorodu Division and it's not been taken for granted.

He notes that the event is not to blow the trumpet but an opportunity to present accounts of stewardship to the Royal Fathers, Distinguished  stakeholders and partners. 

He assured the stakeholders of their resolve to continually do everything possible to positively project Ikorodu Division. 

Awards were given to indigent sons of Ikorodu who has made outstanding impact,among the awardee is Distinguished Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Oba Adeoriyomi Akeem Oyebo (The Obateru of Egbin) and other Royal Fathers in the division, security partners and members of the Joint Task force who has performed excellently well were also recognized and awarded. 

Oba Adeoriyomi Akeem Oyebo, who was the host for the second anniversary said the royals fathers finds a way of encouraging the members of the initiative, he said " when I was told I will be the one to host them for the second anniversary, I had to start making plans for the event, getting things ready and making sure everything was in order." All other personal plans I have was cancelled. I made plans for canopy, foods and other things. it's another form of encouraging the group."  We had to stop the rain from disrupting the event, by praying to the gods of the land."

"Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative has brought some sorts of relative peace to the communities since the inception." And they have carried out their duties effectively. High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya (SAN) has been the major backbone of the Initiative, supported by the Royal Fathers. 

He notes that people that are into this criminal activities are doing it because of unemployment. He said Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative has created job opportunities for the members, taken them off streets. 

He said, the Royal Fathers and stakeholders will continue to show financial, moral and all sorts of encouragement needed by the group for effectiveness.
