South West Government says workers' rights must be protected for the success of DAWN commission in the region

The Government in the South West says they believe that workers' rights are human rights and core value that must be protected at all times in the region. 

They also said that the dignity of a person is tied to their ability to earn a livelihood in a safe and fair environment.

The Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on DAWN Commission and Southwest Integration, Hon Ismail Olanrewaju  Odesanya stated this at the opening of the annual Trade Union Congress in Lagos. 

He said there was the need to continue to fight for the freedom of workers adding TUC must be the voice of reason, the defender of justice, and the champion of fairness in the face of hardship for Nigerian workers.

According to him "We must remember that employees' rights are non-negotiable, and our Governor, the Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu shares this belief by implementing policies that provide the best workplace for all of us to prosper and a favourable environment for our businesses to thrive. The Lagos state government has consistently prioritized the payment of workers' salaries, emoluments, proper training, and a never-ending effort to improve workers’ welfare". End of quote.

Hon Odesanya noted that the state council of the Trade Union Congress has been instrumental in advocating for policies that benefit workers and the community at large.

He however charged them to reaffirm their dedication to the ethos of regional integration and development with workers' rights as human rights, and continue to cultivate the unique relationship for the progress of the state and the region.
