Impeachment Saga: Is Aiyedatiwa a Hero Or Villain?

Ever since the Executive Governor of Ondo State- Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Odunayo admirably known as Aketi, returned from his medical leave, a whole lot of political playing streaks have been in the media space. One among those is the recent impeachment notice served the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa on allegation of gross misconduct.

However, there have been claims and counter claims from parties in support and opposition to the purported impeachment but in the midst of the foregoing, is Aiyedatiwa indeed a villain or a hero?

Every human born of women is borne to take ill. We can say that of HE Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu wasn't an exception more so that he followed the constitutional process of handing over the authority of the state to next in line, the Deputy Governor who acted as the Governor for the space of three months.

However, during the space of three months that Hon. Lucky held sway as the Governor, the state was at a standstill without any improvement to show that someone was in charge. No doubts, as acting Governor, there is nothing bad holding meetings while the Governor was away but those meetings with Obas, APC stakeholders, top government functionaries and others have been how to stop Aketi from returning so that he could succeed him. Ambition is normal but that mustn't be at the detriment of your boss who entrust you with all.

On the allegation of gross misconduct leveled against him by the State House of Assembly, clear conscience fears no accusations. One would have expected the Deputy Governor to clear his name by responding to the allegation but it's not surprising the media space has been awash with sponsored articles against Mr. Governor and the arm responsible for check and balance in government circle.

The allegation of buying a personal car for his office at a time the Nation is grappling with economic hardship is the height of crass insensitivity. An Acting Governor was empowered to carry out the function of the Governor to keep the state running but nothing to show for it except for quest for personal cravings.

Whether Hon. Aiyedatiwa is a villain or a hero will be determined by his defence to the allegation of gross misconduct leveled against him. Leaving politics aside, can he extricate himself from being culpable? Let him talk. Let him prove to the world that he's being witch-hunted.
