ONDO STATE HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BENEFIT FROM FINANCIAL PRUDENCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY OF MR. WALE AKINTERINWA

This translates to an annual revenue of N36 billion for the current administration.

The increase in IGR has had a significant impact on the state's ability to deliver on its promises to the people. It has enabled the government to fund various projects aimed at improving the lives of the citizens, such as infrastructure development and Welfare Programs. The achievements credited to the government of Late Rotimi Akeredolu were made possible through the increased revenue generated under the current administration.

Before the current administration, the state faced challenges in the area of civil service salaries, which affected the welfare of the workers. However, with the improved IGR, the government has been able to address most of these issues and has ensured that salaries are paid promptly.

The success achieved in increasing the state's IGR can be attributed to the leadership style and performance of Mr Wale Akinterinwa, who was in charge of Finance. According to the recently released States Fiscal Transparency League table by BudgIT, Ondo State has maintained its position as the second most transparent and accountable state in Nigeria, in terms of budgetary planning and public financing. The state has shown a remarkable improvement by adding 3 points to its score, going from 78 in Q1 to 81 in Q2 2023.
