Navigating Career Choices: Hon. Olowa Hosts Dignitaries on the Mentors Platform
The Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa today hosted special dignitaries for the programme tagged THE MENTOR'S PLATFORM, an initiative of the office of the Council Chairman on education
The programme, which is aimed at mentoring the youths, is centred on navigating career choices and empowering individuals to pursue purposeful paths in life. Among the dignitaries are the Member, House of Representatives, representing Ibeju Lekki Federal Constituency, Hon. Adebayo Balogun, Special Adviser to the Governor on Revenue and Taxation, Hon. Abdulkabir Opeyemi Ogungbo, the Council Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr. Sesan Daini, Mr. Daniel Awe, a seasoned professional in the banking industry and Head, African Fintech Founders (AFF), Mr. Adebanjo Otukomaya, Admin Controller, Lekki Free Zone, Mr. Muyiwa Olulaja, group head, human capital management and development, First Bank of Nigeria.
In his welcome address, Hon. Olowa appreciated the youths for their ingenuity and zeal for success. while also charging them to make the best use of the opportunity of meeting with quality and seasoned experts who will be sharing experiences with them in the fruitful deliberations.
Hon. Adebayo Balogun called on the youths not to see impediments and obstacles but always see the positive side of things while aiming for the best. Hon. Opeyemi Ogungbo charged the youths not to be short-sighted but also to strive hard in contributing to their own success in order to encourage mentors who will further guide them in their chosen career path.
Contributing further, the Council Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Bldr. Sesan Daini went down memory lane on his resolve to become what he is by putting in efforts and focusing on the goal as he puts it that there is no gain without its own pains. Mr. Daniel Awe, in his remarks, charged the youths to constantly improve themselves by also taking up IT courses that are in demand like, Data Analysis, programming, database management, artificial intelligence, and the likes.
Mr. Adebanjo Otukomaya, Admin head, Lekki Free zone also admonished the youths not to be deterred by mistakes as it only emboldens them for success. Mr. Muyiwa Olulaja, Group Head, Human Capital and Management of First Bank Nig Ltd., while affirming the importance of certificates, called on the youths to ensure that they have quality contents within them and also be problem solvers as companies are looking for talented employees who are solution givers.
The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Temitope Sofwan Ogungbo hinges his firm belief that with all the experiences shared so far by the seasoned experts in their various fields, the sky is the beginning of success for the youths as the Senior Special Assistant on Education, Mr. Oladimeji Ibrahim also corroborated the supervisor as he charged the youths to put to good use the knowledge acquired
The programme drew an array of students from Lagos State University (LASU), University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Michael Otedola University of Primary Education amongst others.. We spoke with some of the students who appreciated the administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, for bringing about an initiative of this magnitude which will help them navigate their career paths in life while also putting them on the pedestal of success.
Also present at the programme were, Hon. Mojeed Oluwafemi Olayinka, the Ibeju Lekki Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Tajudeen Sindiku Oniwonlu, Hon. Ajibola Elemoro, Hon. Balogun Akeem Oluwole, Hon. Wakilat Odupe, Hon. Olusola Edlaere.
