Senator Abdul Ningi Resumes Senate Duties After Three-Month Suspension
Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, has returned to his legislative duties in the Nigerian Senate after a three-month suspension. The suspension, which began in March 2024, was imposed due to allegations of budget padding.
The Senate officially reinstated Senator Ningi on May 28, 2024, following a resolution passed during a plenary session. His return was marked by a speech in which he commended the Senate leadership for their support and guidance.
The President of the Senate, Goodswill Akpabio, welcomed Ningi back and stressed the importance of unity and collaboration among lawmakers. Ningi's reinstatement occurred approximately two weeks before the end of his scheduled suspension, which was originally set to conclude on June 12, 2024.
