First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Pays Condolence Visit to the Saraki Family Ahead of Mother's Burial
Lagos, Nigeria — The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, paid a condolence visit to the Saraki family in Lagos, ahead of the funeral of their mother, Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki.
During her visit, Senator Tinubu, who was there with the permission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressed her heartfelt condolences to the Saraki children. She emphasized the unity and love shared between their families, stating, “We are one family. You know that politics aside, Mr. President will always look out for you. Mama lived a good life. I know it hurts so much, but we thank God for the good life she lived.”
The First Lady also recalled the support she received from the deceased's son, Senator Bukola Saraki, during her tenure in the upper chamber of the National Assembly. She prayed for the repose of Mrs. Saraki’s soul.
In his response, Senator Bukola Saraki expressed his gratitude for the First Lady’s visit, acknowledging her compassion and support. “You always see the bigger picture. I know you are a passionate woman full of compassion. I know you are here with the knowledge of the President. I thank you very much,” he said.
Prayers were offered for the repose of Mrs. Saraki’s soul, with both Christian and Islamic faiths represented. Additionally, prayers were said for the President and the nation.
Present at the condolence visit were Mrs. Saraki’s children, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, Mrs. Tope Edu, and Mr. Laolu Saraki, along with members of the extended family.
