Lagos State Police Command Thwarts Major Kidnapping Plot, neutralizes 9 suspects 

Lagos, July 5, 2024* – In a significant victory against crime, the Lagos State Police Command, led by CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, successfully dismantled a notorious gang of kidnappers planning to abduct high net-worth individuals in Lagos. 

Following two weeks of meticulous surveillance based on credible intelligence, the police set an ambush in the Ladipo area yesterday, July 4. The gang, caught off guard, engaged in a shoot-out but were overpowered by the police. Nine suspects were neutralized, while two escaped with gunshot injuries.

Recovered from the scene were four AK-47 rifles, four locally-made semiautomatic pistols, nine AK-47 magazines, three walkie-talkies, a POS machine, a loudspeaker, and two operational vehicles: a black Toyota 4Runner and a blue Lexus RX350. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

This operation marks the culmination of an eight-month pursuit of the gang, linked to multiple kidnappings in Isolo, Okota, Ejigbo, and Ladipo areas. 

The Command, while celebrating this triumph, appeals to the public, especially medical practitioners, to report individuals with gunshot injuries. Additionally, citizens are encouraged to provide information on suspicious activities to enhance collective security.
