Customs CG Adeniyi Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Collaboration with NLNG

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has underscored the Nigeria Customs Service's (NCS) commitment to deepening its collaboration with Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) to enhance the Nigerian economy. 

CGC Adeniyi made this statement on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, during a courtesy visit by a delegation from NLNG, led by the company's Managing Director, Philip Mshelbila, to the NCS Headquarters in Abuja.

Welcoming the NLNG delegation, CGC Adeniyi expressed his gratitude for the visit and highlighted the significance of the longstanding partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service and NLNG. He emphasized the critical role that NLNG plays in the nation's energy sector and reaffirmed the NCS's dedication to maintaining and strengthening their collaborative efforts.

"Your organisation's contributions to our nation's energy sector cannot be overemphasised," CGC Adeniyi stated. "We value the productive partnership between us and are committed to sustaining this collaboration to further our shared mandates of fostering national growth and development."

The Customs Chief also lauded NLNG’s proactive engagement and commitment to compliance, noting that such collaboration is vital for the seamless operation of Nigeria’s trade and economic systems. "It is commendable that your organisation not only engages with the Nigeria Customs Service when issues arise but also takes the initiative to visit us out of courtesy. This gesture signifies the mutual respect and understanding that are the bedrock of our relationship," Adeniyi added.

In his remarks, NLNG Managing Director, Philip Mshelbila, thanked the CGC and his team for their warm reception and reiterated NLNG’s commitment to fostering a strong partnership with the NCS for the benefit of the Nigerian economy.

"At NLNG, we recognise the Nigeria Customs Service's vital role in facilitating trade and ensuring the smooth operation of our activities," said Mshelbila. "Our relationship has been mutually beneficial, and we remain dedicated to working together to promote Nigeria's economic well-being."

Mshelbila also acknowledged the support NLNG has received from the NCS, noting that the visit is a testament to their desire to maintain and deepen the collaboration. "Our joint efforts significantly contribute to the nation's development," he concluded.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between the two organisations, symbolizing the goodwill and mutual respect that defines their relationship.
