LASTMA GM Reaffirms Commitment to Prompt Toll-Free Call Center Response, Prioritizes Capacity Building
The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has reaffirmed the agency's commitment to delivering prompt and effective responses to all inquiries and reports received through its Toll-Free Call Center. The center, reachable at 080000527862 or 080000LASTMA, has been a key component in LASTMA’s strategy to improve traffic management across Lagos State.

Speaking at an operational meeting held at the agency's headquarters in Oshodi, Mr. Bakare-Oki addressed Zonal Heads and field officers, underscoring the importance of maintaining clear and responsive communication with the public. He emphasized that all calls to the center are treated with the utmost urgency, reflecting the agency’s dedication to addressing the challenges faced by motorists in the state.

“The ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects have created significant challenges for Lagosians on our roads. We are committed to providing timely and effective solutions, and our toll-free call center is a vital tool in this effort. We ensure that every call is answered promptly, and appropriate actions are taken without delay,” Mr. Bakare-Oki stated.

The Toll-Free Call Center, which operates daily from 8 AM to 10 PM, plays a crucial role in connecting LASTMA with the public, allowing motorists to report incidents, request assistance, and receive real-time traffic updates. Since its launch in June 2024, the center has received and addressed over 1,750 calls, including feedback on the performance of LASTMA officers at various traffic hotspots across the state.

In addition to improving response times, the new management at LASTMA is prioritizing capacity building within the agency. Mr. Bakare-Oki highlighted that comprehensive training programs are being implemented for staff at all levels, ensuring they are equipped to meet the evolving demands of traffic management in Lagos’ rapidly growing metropolis.

“Our focus goes beyond swift responses; we are also dedicated to empowering our staff with the necessary skills and tools to perform their duties effectively. Capacity building is a top priority, and the government is actively investing in the continuous development of our personnel to ensure they maintain the highest standards of service,” he added.

Mr. Bakare-Oki reiterated LASTMA’s commitment to its core values of integrity, professionalism, and service excellence. He assured the public that the agency will continue striving for improvements across all aspects of its operations to better serve the people of Lagos.
