Governor Soludo Declares APGA Ready for Anambra Local Government Elections at Mega Rally

Awka, Anambra State – In a rousing speech at the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) mega rally held on September 21st, 2024, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo reaffirmed the party's dominance in the state and its readiness for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for September 28th, 2024. Addressing a large crowd of party faithful and supporters, Soludo declared APGA as the undisputed political force in Anambra, promising a clean sweep at the polls.

The governor proudly announced that APGA, which has governed Anambra for the past 18 years, had fielded candidates in all 21 local government areas and 326 wards across the state, while other political parties were lagging far behind. "APGA is Anambra, and Anambra is APGA," he declared, emphasizing the strong bond between the party and the people of the state. He noted that while nine political parties are contesting the elections, only APGA has candidates in every ward and local government.

Soludo's address also highlighted the fulfillment of his campaign promise to hold local government elections, marking it as a significant step in deepening grassroots democracy. He noted that the state last held local government elections in 1998 and 2014, but his administration, in compliance with a Supreme Court judgment, had brought forward the elections originally scheduled for December 2024. 

"We are battle-ready, and APGA is the landlord in Anambra," Soludo stated confidently, stressing the importance of the local government elections in consolidating the progress made by his administration. He lauded the achievements of APGA in delivering infrastructure, security, economic development, and human capital growth, including over 500 kilometers of road projects and digital training for the state's youth. 

Soludo's vision for Anambra, encapsulated in initiatives like the Awka 2.0 and Onitsha 2.0 development projects, aims to transform the state into a hub of innovation and progress. He highlighted APGA’s commitment to healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and social welfare, positioning the party as the champion of Anambra's development.

In a call to action, Governor Soludo urged the people of Anambra to come out en masse on September 28th to exercise their democratic rights. "Let's go to our wards, work very hard, knock on doors, get everyone organized to the polling booth. Democracy is alive in Anambra," he said, assuring the public of a free, fair, and transparent election.

As APGA gears up for what Soludo predicts will be a landslide victory, the governor reaffirmed the party's role in shaping not just Anambra, but also contributing to the national political landscape. "APGA remains one united, indivisible, and ever-strong political family," he concluded, expressing confidence that the party will continue to deliver progressive leadership at both the state and national levels.

The rally marks the official kickoff of APGA's campaign for the local government elections, with the party well-positioned to maintain its stronghold over Anambra. 

The state now eagerly awaits the September 28th elections, as APGA aims to reinforce its legacy of progressive governance.
