Tragic Accident on CMS Bridge Claims Life, Leaves One Injured
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has reported a tragic accident that occurred early this morning on CMS Bridge, Lagos Island. The accident involved a containerized truck and a commercial Suzuki mini vehicle with registration number EPE 718 HR.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident happened around 6:15 a.m. near UBA, as the truck was descending towards Apongbon Bridge. The truck driver had reportedly stopped his vehicle to address a mechanical issue when he was struck by the speeding Suzuki mini vehicle, leading to his immediate death. 

A female passenger in the Suzuki sustained severe injuries, particularly to her eyes, and was rushed to General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island, for urgent medical attention.

LASTMA officials, in collaboration with officers from the Ebute-Ero Police Division, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and LASMABUS, responded swiftly to the scene. The police secured the area, facilitated the removal of the deceased’s body, and worked with LASTMA personnel to manage traffic flow.

LASTMA expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and urged drivers to maintain caution and observe traffic regulations, especially in high-traffic zones.

Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA, reaffirmed the agency's commitment to road safety and efforts to prevent future accidents.
