Commercial Motorcyclist Killed in Fatal Accident on Cater Bridge, Lagos
A tragic accident occurred today on Cater Bridge, Lagos, claiming the life of a commercial motorcyclist who was riding against traffic. The deceased, who was reportedly heading from Ebute Ero, collided head-on with a fast-moving vehicle as it ascended the bridge from Illubirin.
The impact of the collision was severe, leading to the motorcyclist’s immediate death. The driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene following the crash.
Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrived promptly at the scene and notified officers from the Central Police Station at Adeniji Adele and Shemo. Together, they worked to retrieve the body of the deceased, while LASTMA personnel handed over the motorcycle to police for further investigation.
Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of LASTMA, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and urged the public to comply with traffic laws. He emphasized the dangers of commercial motorcyclists operating on restricted highways, a violation of Lagos State regulations that poses a risk to both riders and other road users.
LASTMA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety on Lagos roads and is increasing efforts to reduce the frequency of such tragic accidents.
