Lagos State Dismisses Six LASTMA Officials for Misconduct

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has dismissed six officials following recommendations from the Personnel Management Board, as approved by the Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC). The disciplinary actions, prompted by cases of severe misconduct and inefficiency, were carried out in compliance with Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

In a statement signed by Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed that the affected officers were formally issued termination notices at the agency’s headquarters in Oshodi, Lagos. He emphasized that these actions are part of an ongoing effort to uphold discipline and integrity within LASTMA.

“The Lagos State Civil Service Commission fully endorsed the recommendations from the Personnel Management Board regarding these officers' conduct. This is an ongoing process to cleanse the agency of errant officials. Further reviews will be conducted shortly to address additional cases,” Mr. Bakare-Oki said.

He called on Lagos residents to actively engage with the agency by providing feedback and reporting misconduct, urging them to submit evidence when doing so. He also warned road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, stating that violations would result in penalties, including fines, as enforced by Lagos Mobile Courts.

Mr. Bakare-Oki highlighted that compliance with traffic laws is critical to achieving the "Greater Lagos" vision under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Development Agenda, particularly its pillar on traffic management and transportation.

LASTMA reiterated its pledge to safeguard motorists' civil rights while ensuring compliance with the Lagos State Transportation Sector Reform Law of 2018.
