Mayor Dele Oshinowo Honored as NAOSNP Grassroots Governance Man of the Year 2024
The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Dele Oshinowo, has been recognized as the NAOSNP Grassroots Governance Man of the Year for 2024. This prestigious award was conferred by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) during its Annual National Security Conference, held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Oshinowo’s stellar leadership in grassroots governance earned him this honor. He has been credited with transforming Agboyi-Ketu from an overlooked community into one of Lagos State’s fastest-growing areas, a feat that has drawn commendation from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Since assuming office, Oshinowo has demonstrated exemplary administrative capabilities, leading major infrastructure upgrades and enhancing the quality of life for the people of his council.
Presenting the award to Oshinowo was Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State for Police Affairs, alongside distinguished guests including Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Ishola Olanrewaju, and Chairman of Ovation Media Group, Chief Dele Momodu.
The NAOSNP award committee had earlier toured the LCDA to assess Mayor Oshinowo’s governance, noting his outstanding performance across key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, social development, and technology. Major projects completed under his administration include the construction of a modern administrative block, Greenwich Gardens Estate (which now boasts 101 apartment units), Raymond Estate, Sterling Heights, and a 400-capacity mini-stadium that is 70 percent complete.
In addition to the physical infrastructure, Oshinowo has made significant strides in social welfare. His administration has empowered petty traders and widows with N125 million in 2024 alone. He also provides free JAMB/GCE forms for indigent students, organizes annual bursary disbursements, and offers free bus rides to residents. After a fire incident at Owode Market, his council donated N1.5 million to assist over 450 traders.
With a strong educational background, holding a Bachelor's degree in Business Studies and a Master’s in Risk Management from the University of East London, Oshinowo’s leadership continues to garner widespread praise for its positive impact on Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
Congratulations to Mayor Dele Oshinowo on this well-deserved recognition.
