Senator Oluremi Tinubu Calls for Workplace Focus on Mental Health
In a statement commemorating World Mental Health Day, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, emphasized the importance of prioritizing mental health in the workplace. This year's theme, "It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace," highlights the growing need to address mental well-being, particularly as many employees face challenges that can negatively impact their mental health.

Senator Tinubu pointed out that bottling up emotions is often the starting point for mental health struggles. She stressed that the fear of stigmatization prevents many individuals from speaking openly about their mental health challenges, which delays diagnosis and treatment. She advocated for creating a more supportive environment where people feel safe to share their struggles, leading to earlier interventions and better recovery outcomes.

“With love and support, mental health issues can be drastically reduced both within and outside the workplace,” she stated, urging everyone to play a part in raising awareness and encouraging individuals to seek medical help and counseling when needed.

The First Lady concluded by calling on Nigerians to be their "brother's keeper" and work together towards a society where mental health is prioritized, ensuring a safer and healthier environment for all.
