First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Announce Winner of 'Every Home A Garden' Competition
The announcement will take place on December 4, 2024, following a comprehensive selection process led by the governing board of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), supported by friends of the initiative.
Reflecting on the competition’s impact, the First Lady expressed satisfaction with its success.
"The objective of this competition has been achieved because people can now feed themselves and their neighbors. When we started this journey nearly a year ago, many doubted its feasibility, but we have seen its possibilities, even from the State House garden," she remarked.
Highlighting the benefits of home gardening, she shared personal experiences, noting how home-grown produce has enhanced her household's food choices.
"As recently as yesterday, I harvested some tea leaves, which were used for a medicinal brew this morning. This success would not have been possible without God and the dedicated individuals in this office."
The final selection was made after presentations by the top three finalists were evaluated by the First Lady and a panel of assessors, including the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, who also serves as the Vice-Chairman of RHI.
Hajiya Shettima praised the First Lady’s unwavering passion for empowering women through innovative initiatives like home gardening.
The winner of the competition will be awarded a cash prize of 20 million Naira as part of efforts to encourage home food production and reduce reliance on external food sources.
The Every Home A Garden initiative was launched last year by the First Lady to inspire women to establish gardens within their homes, contributing to food security and sustainability across the nation.
The final results and winner will be announced on December 4, 2024.
