Lagos State Government Engages Stakeholders to Evaluate e-Call-Up System in Lekki Free Trade Zone
The Lagos State Government has engaged key stakeholders in the Lekki Free Trade Zone to evaluate the impact and compliance level of the newly introduced e-call-up system. The system, implemented to regulate truck movement and prevent congestion, aims to ensure seamless transportation within the bustling Ibeju-Lekki corridor.
In an effort to maintain orderly traffic and prevent indiscriminate parking, the state government introduced the e-call-up system to manage the influx of trucks in the area. Speaking on the initiative, Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, emphasized its importance in preserving real estate values and supporting smooth operations along the Ibeju-Lekki axis.
“Our aim is to avoid chaotic traffic conditions, ensuring that the Ibeju-Lekki area remains conducive for both commerce and investment,” Giwa stated. Over a three-day period, he led a delegation from the Ministry of Transportation, including Senior Special Assistant on Transportation Logistics, Hassan Adekoya, to meet with stakeholders such as Pinnacle, Dangote, Lagos Free Zone, Lekki Free Zone, Lekki Port, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and the Ibeju-Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The discussions centered on the deployment of the e-call-up technology and ensuring all parties are aligned with its effective implementation. Giwa reported that the compliance level is progressing well and expressed confidence that the e-call-up system will significantly improve operational efficiency and reduce congestion in the area.
“This initiative is a significant step toward sustainable development in the region. With Adekoya’s extensive maritime experience, we are optimistic that this e-call-up system will bring tangible improvements,” Giwa said.
The state government views the e-call-up system as a cornerstone for fostering a business-friendly environment in the Ibeju-Lekki axis, promoting sustainable development, and preserving real estate investment appeal in the region.
