Nestlé Nigeria Shines at NECA and CIPM Awards
Nigeria has been recognized for its exceptional contributions to the economy, sustainability, and human resource development, winning prestigious accolades at the NECA Employers’ Excellence Awards 2024 and the CIPM HR Best Practices OSCAR Awards.
At the NECA Employers’ Excellence Awards held recently in Lagos, Nestlé Nigeria clinched the “Excellence Award in Food & Beverages (Food)” category and was honored with the “Visible Impact Award in Investment in SDG and Green Projects” for its commitment to sustainability. These awards celebrate organizations that prioritize employee welfare, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability while delivering outstanding business results.
Speaking at the event, NECA Director-General Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde commended the winners, saying, “The Employers’ Excellence Award highlights companies that thrive by nurturing their workforce, driving innovation, and contributing to societal well-being. Nestlé Nigeria has demonstrated leadership in these areas, setting an example for others to follow.”
In October 2024, Nestlé Nigeria further distinguished itself by winning 11 out of 15 categories at the CIPM HR Best Practices OSCAR Awards, solidifying its reputation as a leader in human resource management.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Mr. Shakiru Lawal, Country Human Resources Manager at Nestlé Nigeria, said, “These awards reflect our unwavering commitment to our people, from hiring to retirement. We focus on creating an open, respectful environment while providing opportunities for growth through training, coaching, and mentorship.”
Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Manager, emphasized Nestlé’s holistic approach to business success. “Our principle of Creating Shared Value underscores our belief that our success is tied to the well-being of our employees, communities, and the planet. We remain committed to empowering people and protecting the environment,” she stated.
Nestlé Nigeria’s environmental achievements also received high praise. The company has sustained its plastic neutrality status, achieving a “1-ton-in, 1-ton-out” removal of plastic packaging from the environment. Nestlé remains the first in Nigeria to incorporate the maximum allowable quantity of recycled PET in its water bottles and is transitioning its packaging to recyclable materials.
Additionally, the company’s energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction initiatives have led to significant results, including savings of over 46,729 GJ of energy and a reduction of 5,274 tons of CO2 equivalent in GHG emissions.
Through its focus on people, innovation, and sustainability, Nestlé Nigeria continues to set benchmarks in corporate excellence while contributing to the growth and well-being of its employees, communities, and the planet.
