The burial activities for the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, officially began today with the departure of his remains from Lagos to Abuja. According to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the body arrived at the Nigerian Air Force wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at precisely 9 a.m., where soldiers from the Guards Brigade gathered to pay their respects.
Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, who recently served as Chief of Army Staff, will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja following the ceremonial proceedings. The solemn event in Lagos was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde; GOC 81 Division, Maj. Gen. F.U. Mijinyawa; Corps Commander Engineers, Maj. Gen. P.O. Eromosele; and AOC, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro. The Lagos State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Oba of Lagos, represented by the White Cap Chiefs, were also present among others.
As the nation mourns the loss of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, final arrangements continue to honor his service and dedication to Nigeria.
