PSC Appoints AIG Ari Mohammed Ali as New DIG for North Central, Replacing Retired DIG Ade Ayuba

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of AIG Ari Mohammed Ali as the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) for the North Central region. The appointment, effective immediately, fills the vacancy left by DIG Ade Ayuba, who recently retired.  

This decision was made during an emergency Management Meeting presided over by PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), mni. In a statement signed by the Commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, it was revealed that AIG Ari Mohammed Ali previously served as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone One, Kano. He hails from Nasarawa State, the same region as his predecessor, ensuring continuity in regional representation.  

DIG Argungu emphasized the need for professionalism and zero tolerance for corruption in the police force, urging the new DIG to align with the Commission's vision for a reformed and accountable Nigerian Police Force. He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to building a police force that is corruption-free, efficient, and dedicated to serving the Nigerian people with integrity.  

"The Commission will work closely with the Police to achieve its primary mandate of protecting lives and property while combating crime and criminality,” Argungu said. He congratulated DIG Ari Mohammed Ali and encouraged him to deliver exemplary service to the nation.  

Other senior members of the Commission, including DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), fdc, and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, the Commission's Secretary, also extended their congratulations to the newly appointed DIG. They assured him of their full support in his new role.  

DIG Ari Mohammed Ali is expected to bring his extensive experience and commitment to his new responsibilities, contributing to the ongoing transformation of the Nigerian Police Force into a professional and people-centered institution.
