LASTMA Launches Whistle App to Tackle Traffic Issues in Lagos
As Lagos braces for increased vehicular activity during the festive season, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a groundbreaking solution to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance road safety—the Whistle app.
This innovative mobile application allows Lagosians to report traffic violations such as reckless driving, one-way contraventions, and other road infractions directly to LASTMA. The app also enables users to alert the agency about traffic snarls, accidents, or hazardous vehicles in real time.
Upon receiving reports, LASTMA officials are equipped to respond swiftly by decongesting traffic, managing accident scenes, or removing obstructive vehicles. This ensures smoother traffic flow and a safer commuting experience for residents.
Empowering Lagosians to Improve Traffic Management
Highlighting the significance of the app, LASTMA noted that many traffic challenges in Lagos stem from drivers who disregard traffic rules, including running signals and using one-way routes.
“Instead of merely lamenting these infractions, Lagosians now have a practical tool in the Whistle app to report violations. Once verified, our teams will act promptly to resolve these issues. We urge the public to collaborate with us in creating safer and more orderly roadways across the state,” the agency stated.
Call to Action
The Whistle app is available for download on the Google Play Store, providing residents with an accessible way to support LASTMA’s efforts in traffic management.
LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, emphasized the agency’s commitment to reducing traffic congestion during the festive season and beyond. “Let us join forces to alleviate traffic bottlenecks and ensure a smooth, enjoyable festive season for everyone,” he said.
Lagosians are encouraged to embrace this technological advancement and contribute to making Lagos roads safer and more efficient.
